Different Fields in the Industry

Inside Wiremen
Electrical workers who install the power, lighting controls, and other electrical equipment in commercial and industrial buildings.
Outside Linemen
Electrical workers who install the distribution and transmission lines that move power from power plant to a factory, business or home.
Installer Technicians
Install circuits and equipment for telephones, computer networks, video distribution systems, security and access control systems and other low voltage systems.
Residential Wiremen
Specialize in installing all of the electrical systems in single-family and multi-family houses or dwellings.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Passing grade in Algebra
  • Qualifying score on an aptitude test
  • Interview with the JATC committee

Frequently Asked Questions

Our electrical apprenticeship program is typically 4 years in length, combining 8,000 hours of on-the-job training with 900+ hours of classroom instruction.

First-year apprentices typically start at 40-45% of journeyman wages, with increases every six months as you progress through the program. By the fifth year, apprentices earn 80-90% of journeyman wages.

No prior electrical experience is required. Our program is designed to teach you everything you need to know from the ground up. However, any previous experience or related education may be beneficial during the application process.
