Our Mission & Vision

The National Electrical Contractors Association represents, promotes, and enhances the management interests of its electrical contractor members through labor relations, education, management skill improvement, apprentice and journeyman training, marketing services, public relations, information, communication, and creation of a better business environment.

Chapter Overview

The Central Ohio Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association represents electrical contractors across 33 counties. Established in 1957, our chapter includes over 30 member companies that employ more than 10,000 union electrical workers. We serve as one of the main voices of the electrical construction industry in Central Ohio, working closely with IBEW local unions 575, 683, 688, and 1105. NECA was founded on the principles that management and labor representation working closely together is the best way for the electrical industry to progress. Those principles have resulted in a lasting partnership for the mutual benefit of contractors and all IBEW electricians. Central Ohio NECA also holds a voting seat on each Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee within our chapter to ensure the next generation of electricians are being offered the best education possible. Skilled trades positions have long been the backbone to a thriving economy, and well-trained electricians are key in NECA providing the highest quality work possible. This dedication to expert craftsmanship has resulted in NECA contractors having a stellar reputation in the industry with proven results for over a century. Visit NECA at www.necanet.org.

NECA's History

NECA traces its origins to the birth of modern electricity. In 1901, a group of electrical contractors met at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, NY, where a major display of electric power had been installed. These contractors joined together to foster trade and reform abuses within their fledgling industry. In order to ensure the growth of the electrical industry was measured and safe, NECA was established in 1901. Acting as the voice to create standards for the electrical industry, working closely with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and assisting contractors navigate changes in the field, NECA has aided the electrical industry through every step of its growth. Today, the electrical grid is one of the most important critical infrastructure developments of all time, impacting everyone in the world. With the growth and innovation of the field, NECA has maintained itself as the guiding hand to support contractors pushing the bounds of innovation, ensure safety standards continually evolve with new technologies, and preserve the guarantee that customers will receive high-quality work they never have to question.
